CHA:COL Nails It Again
May 21, 2008
What can I say? I’m a fan. Friends have recently had their Studio City home revamped by Dwell darlings CHA:COL Architects. Partners Chinmaya Misra and Apurva Pande opened up the main living spaces to create an entertainer’s dream and a spacious new master suite. But, since that project is underway, I won’t tease you any further…but you can check out some of my 3D renderings for the project here (I contributed to some of the finishes).
I’d like to share CHA:COL’s recent Dwell blog feature, “A Bungalow Brightened” by Michael Cannell. It would appear that I’ve found one of the LA Times sources for their stories (see “Westwood Bungalow’s Hidden Spaces Are Revealed,” a May 15 Home Section feature by Debra Prinzing.)
Congratulations Chinmaya and Apurva. Your accolades are well-deserved.
Plants to Combat Indoor Air Pollution
May 17, 2008
Check this out, people. Here’s a handy chart that shows which houseplants are most effective at removing the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) lurking inside your home.
The three major baddies: trichloroethylene, formaldehyde, and benzene are linked to common indoor villains (plastics, carpeting) then matched with beauties such as Gerbera Daisy and Peace Lily so you’ll know which to stash where.
It’s a thing of beauty.
